6 Days / 5 Nights Kilimanjaro Climb Marangu Route
This is the easiest and most popular route to the summit; this is classified as a moderate trek, rather than a climb. It is suitable for those adventure seekers who are not particularly experienced in the mountains. Accommodation is in mountain huts.

DAY BY DAY
6 DAYS / 5 NIGHTS
- Mount Kilimanjaro
DAY 1
Arusha – Mandara Hut
At 08:30 you will be picked up from your accommodation and depart for the Marangu Gate. Begin trekking through the rain forests, for 3-4 hours to Mandara Hut (2750 metres)
DAY 2
Horombo Hut
After breakfast, leave the glades of the rain forest and continue trekking into open rolling moor land. The trek takes about 5-6 hours to Horombo Hut (3807 metres).
DAY 3
Horombo Hut
A day spent acclimatizing to the altitude, with some light walking in this area. Overnight at Horombo Hut.
DAY 4
Kibo Hut
After a good night’s rest, trek past the last water point to reach the Kibo saddle, a broad desert zone between the two peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. Kibo Hut (4725 metres) is reached in 5-6 hours.
DAY 5
Uhuru Peak – Horombo Hut
The start for the summit is made just after midnight. The steepest part of the route is to Gilman’s point (5700m) 5-6 hours. A further one and a half hours walk to Uhuru Peak (5895 metres). Then descend to Horombo Hut (5-6 hours).
DAY 6
Marangu – Arusha
The day is spent descending to the Marangu Gate. Transfer to Arusha.
